RED BOX PROJECT

The Red Box Project was started by Carlos Gibbs a Deep House DJ that Becky met in Tokyo Japan while she was living there. Following Carlos the Red Box journeyed across the globe, captured in photographs by Carlos, other artists, musicians, and world citizens alike.

For the project's one-year anniversary exhibition at Super Deluxe Tokyo, I was invited to interpret the Red Box in my own way.

My vision was inspired by the concept of respiration—the idea of going out as far as your could but eventually coming back to the center. So Instead of venturing further into the world, I brought the Red Box back into a studio, in a controlled setting, creating a space where the world came to itself. Featuring multinational models, the focus shifted from exploring the world around the box to exploring the red box.
