Join us June 8th and 9th, 2024 in NYC at a professional photo studio for an two-day workshop designed to elevate your photography skills in strobe lighting.

This course will provide comprehensive coverage of fundamental and advanced strobe lighting techniques, both in studio settings and on location.

June 8: Requisite Lighting Techniques and Equipment (3 Hours)

On the first day, participants will delve into the essential principles and tools of studio strobe lighting. Through a combination of demonstrations and hands-on real experience setting up and breaking down the lighting sets, students will:

  • Gain a solid understanding of key lighting concepts, including quality, direction, and intensity.

  • Explore various types of studio strobes, modifiers, and accessories, and learn how to select the right equipment for the vibe and feel you want to achieve in your photos.

  • Practice multiple basic lighting setups and techniques to bring your photography to a new level.

  • Receive personalized guidance and feedback to refine their skills.

June 9th: Advanced Lighting Techniques and Mixed Lighting Scenarios (3 Hours)

Building upon the foundations laid on the first day, participants will advance their skills to tackle more complex lighting challenges.

  • Advanced lighting setups and techniques to create mood, drama, and depth in photographs.

  • Strategies for integrating studio strobes with natural light and ambient sources for dynamic results.

  • Practical insights into managing mixed lighting scenarios in studio and on location.

  • Hands-on sessions to experiment with creative lighting effects, such as rim lighting, silhouette, and high-key/low-key setups.

  • On-location shooting (weather permitting) to apply learned techniques in real-world environments and diverse lighting conditions.

  • Discussion and critique sessions to analyze images captured during the workshop and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements:

A camera with manual mode and a flash sync capabilities, must know how to turn off live view from your camera.
