About Beyond Pink

Me and my mom a 2x breast cancer survivor

The Beyond Pink series was born from a deeply personal experience. When I picked up my mother from the hospital after her mastectomy, her body language spoke volumes. Her shoulders were hunched over, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, as though trying to shield herself from the world. She carried the weight of shame and embarrassment, attempting to hide what she saw as imperfections.

But all I felt in that moment was overwhelming gratitude that she was still alive after her second battle with breast cancer. Her scars were not a mark of defeat but of survival, strength, and resilience.

This series is not about pitying her or anyone else for their scars; it’s about empowering women and men to celebrate their resilience and honor the strength it takes to endure. I want everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin, to own their bodies, and to embrace their power unapologetically.

Beyond Pink has received Honorable Mentions at the Siena International Photo Awards and the Tokyo International Foto Awards. It was also a top-featured image in Bored Panda’s coverage of SIPA, reflecting its impact in amplifying the voices and stories of survivors worldwide.

Brave woman! Please do research, the 'Pink' campaign is a farce! Buying pink merchandise is not the way to prevent cancer! Eating a plant-based diet or eating Vegan, is the only true way to combat cancer and other diseases.
