Festival of Color - Bringing Happiness to the Streets of Brooklyn! by becky yee

Ever since I saw the Hindu spring festival,  Holi in a movie, I have been obsessed with experiencing it for myself.  Holi is an ancient Hindu religious festival that signifies the coming of spring.  The time where the end of the long winter months are behind us and everyone rejoices in the upcoming harvest.

Its a beautiful albeit messy holiday that has become popular with non-Hindu's around the world.  This fun loving celebration's characteristic is the colored powder that everyone throws on each other.  Everyone is fair game to be covered in colored powder, friends, strangers, rich, poor, young, old.  It's a time to laugh, forget, forgive, repair broken relationships and enjoy the warm months to come.

So having a lot on Johnson Ave in Bushwick Brooklyn turned into the Festival of Color with a sea of smiling happy colorful people dancing to music was the best way I could have spent my Saturday afternoon. More information on the festival here.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and got your portrait taken and a HUGE thank you to undies.com for donating bras that even the blokes all wanted to wear.
